Derek Green Receives Major Endorsements

PHILADELPHIA (April 15, 2015) – City Council At-Large Candidate, Derek Green Esquire, has received three major endorsements from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP Lodge #5), United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1776, and Clear Water Action. Green’s political expertise and his overall commitment in helping ameliorate all communities within Philadelphia, is the reason for receiving these endorsements. “Derek made the decision easy for us to endorse him, due to his knowledge about our issues and our interests as an organization,” states Gene Blagmond, from the FOP Lodge #5.

With Green’s expertise and history with helping improve opportunities for working families in Philadelphia, “I am confident Derek will be a tireless advocate for the working men and women of UFCW Local 1776 who live and work in the City of Philadelphia,” states Wendell W. Young, IV, President of UFCW Local 1776. “We know through Derek’s experience and work on many important issues that he will be a strong member for Philadelphia’s working families in City Council.” The UFCW, FOP Lodge #5, and Clear Water Action endorsements add to the following recent endorsements from AFSCME District Council 47, Gas Workers Local 686, Transport Workers Union Local 234, and the Fire Fighters’ Union Local 22 (IAFF). As the former Special Counsel to Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco, Deputy City Solicitor, AssistantDistrict Attorney, and Small Business Lender with Meridian Bank, Green has worked throughout Philadelphia to address the issues that confront our City. “I’m truly honored to receive these endorsements,” states the candidate. “The membership of these organizations reflect our diverse City and their support demonstrates that I have the experience to get things done with a new vision for our City.
